Este libro, editado con motivo de la exhibición ´´Arte del Siglo XX´´ da cuenta a través de textos e imágenes de una de las mayores colecciones latinoamericanas de arte contemporáneo. El Museo fue inaugurado por el artista mexicano en 1981 y creado a partir de su colección.
Deslumbrantes obras de Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon, Francisco Toledo, Andy Warhol, Christo, Rene Magritte y otros artistas esenciales en el arte del Siglo XX, con fotos documentales acompañan esta edición. Los estudios de Juan Carlos Pereda, curador del Museo Rufino Tamayo, y Cecilia Rabossi indagan sobre la creación de la colección y la doble función de Tamayo como artista y coleccionista. El investigador Olivier Debroise desarrolla un profundo análisis del papel que ha jugado el coleccionismo en la conformación del arte mexicano, tanto público como privado. Una selección documental con motivo de la inauguración del museo construye el apéndice del libro.
Realizado por Fundación Proa en colaboración con el Museo Rufino Tamayo, este catálogo es de fundamental importancia para aquellos estudiosos del Arte del Siglo XX, sobre todo de una de las más importantes colecciones latinoamericanas de arte internacional.

Through a selection of texts and images, it shows one o the largest contemporary art collections of Latín America. Tamayo inaugurated the museum in 1981, taking hís collection as a starting point.
This book contains an important group of work of art of the Collection, which encompasses artists such as Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon, Francisco Toledo, Andy Warhol, Christo, among others.
The research done by Juan Carlos Pereda, curator of the museum, and Cecilia Rabossi, is focused on the origin of the collection and the double role of Tamayo as both artist and collector. Furthermore, researcher Olivier Debroise deeply analyzes the role of public a prívate collecting in the formation of Mexican art. A selection of interviews and press articles of Rufino Tamayo for the inauguration of the museum are included in the documentary appendix of this edition.
